Dr. Oscar Nery
Pabico
Oca was born in
Daet, Camarines norte to parents Francisco and Fausta Pabico. He spent his
elementary grades at Daet Elementary School. He earned his high school education
studies at Camarines Norte High School. His next stop was Manila where he
graduated with a degree in Dentistry In Manila Central University.
We learn what
happens later as he tells his own story,
"A year after my
graduation as an Octoberian in 1953. I attended the review class conducted by
the school (MCU) at Mayhaligue street, Sta Cruz, Manila. I was lucky to be one
of the twenty successful examinees of the school that took the Dental Board
Examination that same year.
Before I went on
to practice my profession in 1957, I took the 6 month Dental Externship Program
in Oral Surgery at the University of the Philippines - Philippine General
Hospital in Manila. Three years later, in 1960, I put up my dental clinic in my
hometown, Daet Camarines Norte. Although my private practice had a good start, I
experienced unhappy events when one at a time three of my clinics burned. The
first one was in 1962, while the second and third ones were burned in March 1979
and September 1979.
I am happily
married to the former Lydia Villalon, a Bachelor of Arts in Education graduate,
who chose to work as an Asst. Registration Officer of the Municipal Civil
Registrar of the Municipality of Daet, Province of Camarines Norte. Our Union
was blessed with three children. All of them have followed my footsteps as a
dentist. My eldest son, Ricky Nelson chose to put up a Rent a Car business while
the second one, Jeffrey Wilson is connected as a dentist with the RHU of Labo,
Camarines Norte. My youngest son Eric, works with me at the Our Lady of Lourdes
Hospital, a tertiary Hospital in Daet.
As a dentist I
have been very active in the Philippine Dental Association. As a matter of fact.
I was a Regional Coordinator for Region V of the Philippine Dental Association
for 10 years and a a Chapter President of the Camarines Norte Dental Chapter for
13 years. As chapter president, In 1970 I was a recipient of the DR. BIENVENIDO
B. ERAŃA AWARD for the Most Outstanding Chapter President of the Philippine
Dental Association. As Regional Coordinator in 1997 I was chosen as Outstanding
Regional Coordinator of the Philippine Dental Association.
At present I
still attend to my private patients and to the employees and immediate
members of their families of the Camarines Norte Electric cooperative and the
Camarines Norte Water District of our province as their company retained
dentist.
